Health and wellness is comprised of five elements: Diet, cardio, weight training, flexibility, and sleep.
Diet can be defined as: the way you habitually eat; it can be a way to lose weight; a way to improve your health; or all three. Desirable Inches wants each client to reach their maximum potential and to do so, a healthy diet is necessary. Desirable Inches, wants you to think about what you eat, when you eat, and how you combine your food. It is important to make sure your food intake is consistent with your bodies' cycle for tearing down, absorption, and elimination. A healthy diet consists of plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats/meat alternatives and low fat dairy foods. It also limits empty calories that are high in sugar and fat.
Cardio is the ability to perform repetitive, moderate to high-intensity muscle movement for a prolonged period of time. The benefits of cardio training are significant. It strengthens the single most important muscle in the body, the heart. It also is an essential part of any program for weight loss. Desirable Inches recommends 30 – 45 minutes of cardio three to four days per week.
Weight training is a form of exercise for developing the strength and size of skeletal muscles. Properly performed, weight training can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being. Desirable Inches will create a weight training program to work all major muscle groups: chest, back, shoulders, hamstrings, quadriceps, biceps, triceps, and abdominals.
Flexibility helps balance muscle groups that might be overused during exercise or physical activity. By stretching after warming up, during your workout, and after your workout routine, your muscles stay loose. When your muscles are loose, you are able to increase your range of motion and prevent injuries from occurring.
FLEXIBILITY BENEFITS:
Greater freedom of movement
Increased physical efficiency and performance
Increased balance and coordination
Decreased risk of low back pain
Increased relaxation and stress reduction
Decreased risk of injury
Decreases recovery time
Sleep, like diet and exercise, is important for our minds and bodies to function normally. Achieving restful sleep is essential to both our activities and our health.
